Today, I have a story to tell you! A fun, and magical story!
But it will not be told by me, no, it will come to you in the wonderful words of Randy Fath.
Randy Fath, is one of the coolest people I have ever met! I know him because we both go to the same church. He is owner and operator of his own photography company (he takes really cool pictures!), and he is one of the nicest, sincerest, and most caring human beings you will ever meet! When we didn't have a lot of money for my little sister's Senior Pictures, Randy offered his services for absolutely free! We spent a whole day in the studio with him, he took over a thousand pictures, and gave us a cd with all the pictures, and all the rights to them!
Randy is also one of those guys that always has a story to tell, and he should! He's traveled all around the world, been a part of various organizations, and has got to see so much, experience a lot, and get to know so many people!
In January of 1989, Randy Fath from the United States and Fergus Colloff from Tonbridge, Kent UK found themselves working on several of the same reconstruction projects. They became friends (Randy had a broad range of construction experience from growing up in his family business, and Fergus was from a professional family but developed an interest in traditional and fine woodworking and then went to university to obtain his degree in the field).
Late in the month of January, Randy and Fergus were working on the roof of the New Testament Church of God in Cascade Jamaica, and after some joyful conversations decided to exchange hammers, as each was interested in the others. Randy had a grid-faced rip claw framing hammer, and Fergus had the hammer he had just completed the home of his fellow countryman and singer, Paul McCartney.
Paul McCartney of the famed Beatles group.
Fergus Colloff and Randy did continue their friendship as Fergus returned to Jamaica the following year and taught in the new vocational school that was founded by Randy Fath through the United Church of Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands."
If you've followed this blog at all before, then you know how crazy I am about the Beatles!!!
I could not believe that I held this hammer in my hand! So, I took a nice little photo-shoot with it (as you can tell!), and when I took it back to church the following Sunday to give it back to him, he told me that it was an early wedding present, and that I could keep it!!!
I am so excited, and so happy about this! This is gonna be a pretty difficult wedding gift to beat!!!
So! I just wanted to send a public thank you to Randy Fath, for this wonderful gift, and this intriguing story that I got to share with all of you!!!
If you liked it, remember to pin it, and like it on facebook! Thanks!
Peace Love and The Paul McCartney Hammer
