5 Modern Pop Hits that were actually stolen from Classic Music!

5 Modern Pop Hits that were Stolen from Classic Hits
I am, most definitely an old soul, and as such, am absolutely mesmerized by old music. Buddy Holly, The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Hank Williams, The Kinks, Cat Stevens, The Eagles, Aretha Franklin, the list goes on and on!
So, since I listen to and know good music, modern pop music just doesn't do anything for me! As opposed to old music that satisfies and nourishes my soul, newer music is just crude little tunes that are basically only chorus so that they get stuck in your head! There might be a couple newer songs here or there that I can tap my foot to and get a feel for, but it just isn't the same as those oldies but goodies.

So over the years, I have discovered 5 modern pop hits that originally, were beautiful, old-timey classics! Some of these I bet you would have never known! All these songs have been popular hits on the radio, and I'm guessing that most people don't know their roots!
So take a look, and see if you can guess who the original artist of these songs were!

#1. Let's start with Flo Rida's 'Good Feeling'. Did you know that the catchy, "Ooooh sometimes I get a good feeling yeah. I get a feeling that I never never never had before no no I get a good feeling yeah", was originally used in a song from 1962? I personally can not stand this Flo Rida song, it just crawls directly under my skin, but I absolutely adore the original singer, and the original song is so catchy and wonderful! Can you guess who the original 1962 crooner was?

The original singer, is one of my top female musician crushes, Etta James! The song is called "Something's Got a Hold on Me." Listen to it, and see how beautiful Etta's original song was!

#2. I actually really enjoyed Sean Kingston's 2007 self-titled album! I am a big fan of reggae, and I enjoyed his updated version of it!
The song, 'Me Love', when slowed down, has always struck a resemblance to one of my favorite songs from the 1970's, written by one of the greatest rock bands of all times...can you figure it out just by listening to it?

Could you figure it out? Now I may not be correct, and this has just been my personal opinion, but just listen to Led Zeppelin's 'D'yer Mak'er', and see what you think!

#3. Who could forget Sheryl Crow's 2003 cover, "The First Cut is the Deepest". It blew up on the radio, and it's because it was a complete rip-off of a beautiful old song!
It was also covered by Rod Stewart in 1977. The original artist was P. P. Arnold in May 1967. But my favorite artist did it in December of 1967.

Sound familiar? It's Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens! And here is the original, done by P.P Arnold!

#4. Did you think Kanye West was so clever for that catchy beat of his in "Gold Digger"? Well, he wasn't the original artist to use it! Yes, he did change the lyrics, making it, I guess a bit more relevant for today! But the original (and more upbeat, happy, cleaner, and just plain better!) version of this song was by.....

Ray Charles! So much better!

And coming in at #5. This song re-done by Paris Hilton, is simply put, awful. I absolutely love the original artist, and their version of the song! But Paris Hilton's throaty, way over the top trying to be sexy version is just a little too much to handle! And I didn't even get to the music video yet! I couldn't get past 57 seconds watching it! I just can't handle women parading around half naked trying desperately to convince everyone within a thousand miles radius of their sex appeal. That, to me, is about as un-sexy as you can get!
Ok I'm off my soapbox!

The original artist who sang "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" was Rod Stewart! I absolutely adore Rod and his wonderfully distinctive voice (and you have to admit he sure knows how to pull off a blonde mullet!)!
Rod's music video for "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" is so fun and spirited! I also love that it's a guy asking a girl "So honey do you think I'm sexy?"  as opposed to a slutty girl asking that same question full of provocation and seduction.
5 Modern Pop Hits that were Stolen from Classic Music
So next time you hear one of those songs, I hope you'll remember this post, and all the original artists who did them! You will know why they sound so good, because they were originally written or performed by a timeless artist who had actual talent, and wasn't in it for the sex appeal, fame, or money!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I hope it will inspire you to broaden your music horizons, and take a deeper look into the music that has changed this world!

Feel free to share it around! Pin it, tweet it, share it to facebook! Thanks guys!

Not only did I get to see the Beach Boys (whaaaa?!!!), but I got to meet a ton of new and exciting people, sell a bunch of MPLL stuff, and also have a grand time dancing and singing along to Beatles Tribute Bands from around the world!
Here's a collection of pictures from that week!

The hotel I stayed at! This place was incredible! If you're ever in the Louisville area, I would definitely recommend staying here. It's in Indiana, but it's directly across the bridge, and only a three minute drive from downtown Lousiville;
The Clarion Hotel Conference Center.

Some great people I met! The young man on the left is named Ben, and he's from Colorado! He bought my paisley bow to wear as a bow tie! Rockin! And this lady on the right bought a flower headband and wore it on her hat the whole week! Awesome!
Picture
And I also had a wonderful surprise that week! When my mom, cousin, and good friend all came down, my wonderful man came down with them too, to surprise me! It was soooo incredible to get to spend the day with them, and I was missing Nick so that was great to get to see him!

Vending at Abbey Road on the River 2014!

Right now I am SooOo0oo0 totally excited! In two days I will be driving (by myself!) to Louisville, Kentucky, to vend at The 10th Annual Louisville Kentucky Abbey Road on the River Festival. I wrote about this festival last summer here. This festival embodies everything that I am passionate about; Music, The Beatles, Peace, Love, John Lennon's Peace Movement, Outdoor festivals, Dancing, Hippies, and now...
Picture
...THE BEACH BOYS!!!
Yes, this year at AROTR, the Beach Boys are going to be playing!!!
I absolutely ADORE the Beach Boys; when I listen to them, I am taken back to the wonderful summer days of being a kid, jumping on the trampoline, dancing around, singing along to 'Good Vibrations'. To me, the Beach Boys are a piece of my childhood, and I would still name them as one of my favorite bands today.
So to me, just knowing that I am actually going to be vending at a festival where the Beach Boys are playing, is just completely MAGICAL!
Picture
This was my booth I had at last year's smaller, indoor, Cleveland AROTR. It was so much fun, and that event allowed me to gain access to vending at the bigger better outdoor AROTR!
I am extremely excited about this event, not only because I get to travel a bit and get out of Ohio, but this will be the biggest show I've ever done, and it will allow me to get My Peace Love Life products and name out there into the world! And that just completely thrills me!
I am also so happy to be getting a little 'me' time. I love traveling by myself, and having time to be with just me, and re-align myself to my needs, wants, and goals. I think that this trip will definitely help me do that.
So I will be taking off on Wednesday at about noon!
If you don't have tickets yet, find yours here!
If you happen to be there, come up and say hi! If you can't make it, don't worry, there will be plenty of pictures posted when I get back!
Allright, well I'm off! I will see all you later!!! <3

China Barbie Singing a Song in Mandarin Chinese
Hey loves! Today I thought I'd share something a little different; a video I took of me singing you guys a song! It's a Chinese folk song, that I learned from some of my friends while I was living in China. I loooove this song! It's called Li Bai Bai, and is about an old Chinese man who wanted to join the Chinese Army, but they don't want him to join because his butt is too big, and they're afraid that the Japanese army would be able to spot him too easily! Long story short, Li Bai Bai joins the army, and ends up getting stabbed by a Japanese soldier, because he spotted his butt from afar! Hahahahaha yea for real! Anyways, it's a great song, and here ya go!

Hehe hoped you liked it! It's just something super random that makes me super happy, hope it made you happy too!:P You can visit my Youtube Channel here!

Beatles Tribute Weekend; All You Need is Love.

Memorial Day Weekend, me and some of my favorite people ever went to Louisville, Kentucky for the Annual Abbey Road on the River; a week long celebration of everything Beatles!
Picture
It's pretty much a giant hippie fest and it is wonderful!
We hacky-sacked, danced (my love is SUCH a wonderful dancer [especially at picking me up and twirling me around in the air!]), sang along to Beatles songs sung by Beatles Tribute bands, and walked around Lousiville, havin a great time! There was also a giant Peace Gathering. People read aloud quotes by Mohamad Ali, and John Lennon, while we sang the song "Give Peace a Chance", and meditated on peaceful thoughts and how to make the world a better place. It was truly wonderful, and just what I needed. I have a LOT of pictures! And here is some of them,
Enjoy!
Picture
^^^Me and my love by the river^^^

The Beatles were huge advocates for peace, change, and internal freedom and peace. Not only in their songs, but in their lives. They are true inspirations, and I am in love not only with their music, which is wonderful, joyful, and beautiful, but with their life outlook, and their desire for peace and love.

"All you need is love...love is all you need."

"You say you want a revolution, well you know we all want to change the world...When you talk about destruction don't you know you can count me out...You tell me it's the institution well you know, you better free your mind instead."

I of course took my Ribbon Baton Streamer. This thing is so fun to dance with, and my love got pretty good with it too!
Picture
Picture
It was a truly glorious time. Dancing, singing, and being free.
Picture

So now I encourage you; go dance, sing, be free. And don't care what others think of you. Care about freeing yourself from mental slavery, and living and loving.

Well, I finally got ahold of the pictures from the 2012 Art and Music Show that I was so excited about! The show was put on by my friend Marie Vedette, who is an amazing artist. I was lucky enough for her to ask me to be a part of the show. I got to set up a table with my clothing, and other crafts to sell. I ended up selling more than I thought I would. I also got to play keyboard, guitar, and sing! It was an awesome night! Here's some pictures from it! They turned out so good, and were all taken by What's Up Ohio.

Sucker; a Chinese Band (plus a music video that I'm in!)

Sucker Band
Sucker is a Xi'an, China based punk band. When I was in Xi'an I got to hang out with them and not only are they really talented musicians, but they are really nice, fun people! Here's me with them, and a couple other people, at the skate park where we filmed part of their music video.
Here is the music video (or mv as they call it in China) that we filmed at the skate park. The song is called Remain Pain, and it's all in Chinese, but it's a really fun song!
I am at 2:25 for just a couple seconds!
Cute Chinese Girls
Here's a mv for the song called "Through My Soul". I absolutely adore this song! I'm at 1:38 standing by the half pipe, and 2:36 in the group picture.
This is a video I took of Sucker playing at an outdoor concert in Xi'an. I think this video is so cool because I video the crowd also, and you can see the energy and spirit coming from the crowd. Everyone is just having so much fun! Including me! At this concert I crowd surfed onto the stage, then jumped back out! Sooo fun!
Here's some more pictures!
