Thoughts from a Thirty Year Old

Picture
I have officially entered into the third week of my thirties...Wait who said that? Oh wait, it was me!
Yes, I am thirty years old! And yes, I am still getting used to it (that explains the million and one birthday posts!)! But I must say, I am very excited about it, and I actually feel magnificent! Not only physically (which I have my healthy lifestyle to thank for), but as a complete, well rounded adult!
Indulge me a bit, and I will tell you why I am just so gosh darn excited about my thirties, and why you also, should not be shuttering at the thought of becoming a thirty year old (for those of you already in or past your thirties, wohoo for you!).

Picture
Like most, I spent my twenties trying to "find myself", and discover who I really am. I frantically searched for my life's calling, and for my purpose here on earth. "What am I meant to do with my life?" I constantly asked, hoping the answer would not forever elude me. Now don't get me wrong, I loved my twenties! I had a complete blast traveling, and being an immature little turd who didn't care what others thought about me! But, a great part of it was spent in uncertainty.
Now that I am in my thirties, I feel I have reached a level of maturity that I am proud of, which is to say that I am more mature in some ways, but still super silly and a total child at heart (just take a look at my cake smash pictures if you don't believe me!) in others.
I also have a better grasp of my emotions (which is amazing!), I have started speaking slower, and more deliberately, choosing my words carefully, so as to better convey my meaning, and I have felt happier and more at peace than I have in years!

Picture
Yay for 30!
As a thirty year old, my life is no longer clouded with uncertainties; I am married, I know who I am, I know what I am meant to do, and what I want to do, with my life. That is not to say that there are no uncertainties, for a life without uncertainties, is certain to be dull.
I feel so excited to be entering into this new era, with a plan for the future, and hopes and dreams I look forward to accomplishing. If I accomplished so much, and had such a blast when I was twenty, broke, and searching for answers, I believe there is no limits to what I will achieve, and the fulfillment, and prosperity I will be basking in, in the next decade of my life! In this next decade, I will have the advantage of the accumulation of twenty nine years of; tragedies experienced, lessons learned, strength gained, will power tested, and a whole lot of life experienced. I will use these lessons to continue growing as a  person, giving as I should, loving as I was meant to, and being the force to be reckoned with, that I know I am.

Picture
So that's my spiel thirty years in the making!
A few more things that I'm super excited about being thirty; I think I look better than I did in my twenties, I finally feel like a woman (as opposed to a 19 year old girl, like I have for so long), and I am so much smarter, wiser, and confident than I was as a youngster! It is a great feeling!

And now here's a little peek into what we all did for my multiple birthday celebrations!
It all began on Saturday morning, when I did my epic cake smash photo shoot. Be sure to check out all the cake smash pictures!

Then later that night we went to a party in Akron, that was thrown by some friends of ours. It was a private party, thrown in a warehouse that is owned by Lebron James. He actually had his Halloween party there last year! And this party was epic! It had a huge bar with a tv behind it, there was a dj and a dance floor, smoke machines, multiple beer pong tables, couches and recliners scattered around, and a basketball court in the other room!
This party was for multiple people's birthdays, and when they found out it was my birthday also, my name got thrown into the mix, and after midnight the dj announced that it was my birthday. He said, "I'm not gonna tell you how old she is, but she's hot, and that's all that matters!" We had such a blast dancing the night away, drinking jello shots, and celebrating! We crashed at our friend's house, falling asleep at about six in the morning.

We got up at ten, drove home, and slept a couple hours more. When we woke up, it was time for Nick's special birthday surprise for me. We hopped in the car, and started driving. Where to? I had no idea, but I was excited!
We ended up in Cleveland, where Nick
combined two of my favorite things; big cities, and mystery novels! He asked me a series of questions, and every question I answered led us to a different place in Cleveland, where we did a different activity! I loved the mystery of it, and being in charge of our fate, even if I didn't know exactly which fate I was choosing!

Picture
We began our night by eating at Noodlecat, and I am in love! I had never been there before, and I was so excited about eating Asian noodles! Mine had tofu, and a bunch of veggies!

After we ate our fill, we ended up at Jacks Casino!

We ended our night going behind the rock and roll hall of fame and looking out over Lake Erie. It was such an incredible and special way to celebrate my birthday!

The following Friday night, Nick and my mom threw me a wonderful 50's themed surprise party! It was such a surprise, and so perfect! We ate, took lots of pictures, and played games!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party!

6/27/2016

Picture
This year my wonderful mother turned 60 years old! Since 60 is a pretty special milestone, I wanted to do something extra awesome for her, so she would remember it for the rest of her life. We are both obsessed with the t.v show "Reign", which is a show about kings and queens, and castles, and the like, so I decided to make her "Queen for a day!"
Here are pictures from our Medieval themed party, with some D.I.Y that you can steal for your very own medieval themed party!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
First things first, you gotta set the scene! I absolutely love themed things, and to pull off a themed thing successfully (whether it be a wedding, room decor, an outfit, or a party), people must know immediately, what the theme is! As soon as people enter the room, they should think that they are in a castle! We took it a step further, and made it so as soon as people pulled into the driveway, they knew they were about to enter a castle! We did that with this incredible drawbridge that my husband made out of some scrap wood from his work! Here's how we did it!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
My wonderfully crafty husband just got some scrap wood from work, picked up a saw, and cut a person-sized door our of the wood! Keep the door so you can lay it on the ground, and connect some chains to it, to make it look like a draw bridge!

Picture
The drawbridge chains are just black construction paper cut into strips, then linked and taped together. You know how you used to make paper chains in school! For these, just make sure the strips are wide, so it looks like thick chains.
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Nick picked up cans of black and grey spray paint for just a couple bucks each, and spray painted it to look like blocks.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
We also added some "torches" to either side of the gate.
These torches are super simple to make, and look so good! We made a bunch and also used them inside the house.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
These torches are super simple to make! All you need is; black construction paper, red and yellow tissue paper (we got these at Dollar Tree for only a dollar each), and scotch tape and scissors!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
What to do; Cut one black piece of construction paper into a square, so you can roll it into an ice cream cone looking tube, then tape. The top should be a large hole, with the bottom coming to a point, just like an ice cream cone! Then take both colors of tissue paper, and shove them into the top hole, fanning them out to look like a flame. You can also place battery operated tea lights on top of the flames, to make it light up!
Now for the inside of the house!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Those walls!
The walls were one of the most important elements of the decoration, because that's what hid our modern day dining room walls, and turned it into an ancient castle! It even helped hide the living room and the kitchen.

Picture
We bought a roll of grey plastic table cloth from Party City, and me and my sister used permanent markers to draw blocks. We just rolled out the tablecloth and drew yards upon yards of this, so we could make sure every wall was covered. When it came time to decorate, we just measured out the lengths horizontally, cut the rolls, and taped them to the walls with heavy duty tape!
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
We cut a couple pieces of the table cloth and hung it vertically from the ceiling to hide the living room. We also taped purple and gold plastic tablecloths to the ceiling, and tied it with lace to act as "curtains".

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Here are some more of the torches we made! Taped to the interior of the castle walls.

Lots of pearls (from our wedding. You can buy strands of them from Oriental Trade or JoAnn Fabrics), candles, lace (also from our wedding), fake coins and jewels (bought from Dollar Tree for only $1.00 each)! Also, mounds of moss (bought from Dollar Tree!), gold vases (these were from my cousin's wedding. She just spray painted old vases from thrift stores), and golden chalices!
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Golden chalices!
These goblets added great medieval flair! Plus, we made enough for everyone at the party, so everyone got to drink in medieval style, and! Had a great party favor to take home with them!

Picture
We went to the Salvation Army and bought glass goblets for $.25 each. They were all matching except for my mom's, which was huge and very Queenly!
Picture
Nick took the glasses outside and spray painted them to perfection with gold spray paint.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
After the goblets dried, I got to work with my hot glue gun, gluing "gems" (we got a bag for $1.00 in the craft section of dollar tree!) onto them!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
The results of these under $.50 each handmade goblets? Royal, and super fun! Check out how much fun everyone was having with theirs (ok it probably helped that they were filled with booze!)!

Well I guess this brings us to the costumes!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Since I wanted my Mom to feel like the Queen she is, I rented her this stunning Queen dress, complete with this gorgeous tiara! I rented it from an amazing party store in the Canton/Akron area, Akron Design and Costume. This place is the coolest costume store I have ever seen! And it's open year round!
I also gave her beautiful earrings and a necklace, from Eden.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
I also bought this Knight's armor vest from Akron Design and Costume for only seven bucks, and forced my dad to wear it for a little bit!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Those great vests and jester hats you see being worn by everyone? I made them so everybody could feel involved with the theme! I was so glad I made these, because it was a blast seeing everyone get dressed up, and get involved in the theme! Here's how to make your own jester hats and vests, for less than $5 for everything!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Let's start with the vests!
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
At the Salvation Army (love that store!) I purchased a large red tablecloth, and a large piece of yellow fabric, for only two dollars each.
It's important to get two different colors of fabric, so you can make the crosses on the vests.
All you need to do is; lay the fabrics out on the floor. Cut the fabric into strips. Make the strips wide enough to go from shoulder to shoulder. You can make them as long or short as you wish. The yellow ones are shorter because they were for the girls, and plus the fabric was shorter. Then measure from top to bottom, and side to side, to get to the exact center of the vest. That is where you cut the neck hole! Just fold it in half, and cut a half circle to make it even. After you have done this to all of the available fabric (except for a couple small strips), it's time to make the crosses!
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Cut out crosses from each color of fabric, and hot glue (it's faster than sewing!) it to the opposite colored vest!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
The crosses make such a difference, and really make it look like a knights vest!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
And now for the Jester Hats!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
All you need is green, yellow, and purple construction paper (we just bought a large multi-colored pack at JoAnn Fabrics and used that for all construction paper needs!), and scissors and scotch tape!
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Cut the different colors into shapes shown above. The long yellow strips are for the band. You will need two strips per hat. The green and purple triangles are for the hanging pieces. They do not need to be pointy at the top, because the yellow circles will be taped onto the tops of them. You will need two green and two purple for each hat. You will need four yellow circles per hat.
Tape two yellow pieces together for the band. You can measure your head for reference. I made varying sizes of hats. Then alternately tape the purple and green pieces to the inside of the yellow band. Add the yellow circles to the top. Bend the green and purple pieces slightly, to make them bounce around. They look so cute!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
Now that your home and your guests all look like they belong in Medieval times, what are you going to do to keep everyone occupied?
Since my mom's birthday was in February and it was pretty cold, we didn't want to do a lot of things outside. So here's what we did for entertainment!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
We took pictures of everyone!
I cut the center out of a large poster board that I got for a dollar at Dollar Tree, decorated it, and wrote the occasion on it (Ellen's 60th!). When people came in, and after they put costumes on, we took a picture of them holding the "frame". It was a fun way to get pictures of everyone that came, and turned out super cute!

The giant mace pinata!
This was also my husband's idea, and he made it perfectly!

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
He first blew up a giant balloon we got at Party City, and then mod podged pieces of scrap paper over it. He did one layer, leaving a small space empty at the bottom of the balloon.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
While we left the first layer of paper mache to dry, we made these little spikes you see here. We made them by cutting out, rolling, and taping together, cones of black construction paper. Leaving a small flap of paper to tape onto the balloon. Once all spikes were attached, Nick did a second layer of paper mache, going over the flaps. Once that layer of paper mache is dry, it's now time to pop the balloon, from the small empty space you left at the bottom. Then take it outside and spray paint it black.

How to Throw a Medieval Themed Party
We filled the pinata with cut up pieces of tissue paper (leftover from the torch flames), and plenty of candy and fake gold coins.

We also had jousting tournaments to keep everyone amused!
We got these great little swords at Party City, and everyone had such a blast fighting with them!

"Jewels" for everyone. We got them at Dollar Tree.

How to Host a 1950's Housewife Dinner Party

How to Host a 1950's Housewife Dinner Party
If you are an old soul like me, you probably love a good dinner party. And even if you aren't, it is still a really fun thing to do!
I absolutely love anything themed, and I am obsessed with the 1950's (my wedding was retro themed for cryin' out loud!), so I had a blast creating this dinner party theme!
So here I give you the how-to for your next get-together!

How to Host a 1950's Housewife Dinner Party
For your 50's Dinner Party, you gotta have a certain retro feel to it, and here I have some ways to get that feel, and how to pull off the perfect retro dinner party!

How to Host a 1950's Housewife Dinner Party
-Music!
If you have Pandora, fire up the 50's Rock 'n' Roll Radio Station, slip in a 50's compilation cd from the library, or make yourself a rockin 50's playlist on your Ipod!
Some great artists to get started with are Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, The Coasters, Little Richard, The Drifters, Chubby Checker, Sam Cooke, The Shirelles, and Dion and the Belmonts. Just to name a few! Bonus points if you have a record player and actual records!

How to Host a 1950's Housewife Dinner Party
-Add some Retro touches!
As you can see, I have a stack of vintage magazines, a vintage lamp, two vintage suitcases, even my table is vintage! You can find most these items at thrift stores, estate auctions, flea markets, or even in a relative's attic!

-Vinyl vinyl vinyl!
The fastest way to add some retro feel, is with vinyl!
The three easiest ways to use vinyl; 1. Get an old record at a thrift store, and, using a glue stick, glue a picture in the middle of it (like I did at my wedding, below)! 2. Write out your food menu for the evening, and glue that onto the middle of the record (like I also did for my wedding, below). 3. Use record bowls to hold candy, or silverware, like I did above. You can purchase record bowls from myEtsy Shop.

-Don't use paper plates!
Use real silverware, real plates, and real napkins.

-Plenty of lace, pearls, and candles

Dress the Part.
Dress like an adorable 50's housewife!
-Lots of pearls
-Red Lipstick
-A retro apron
-Heels
-A cute dress
-An updo
(Or just watch an episode of I Love Lucy, and go from there!)

14 Must Have Wedding Pictures You'll Regret not Taking
Now obviously, there are more than 14 pictures you should make sure to have on your wedding day! You need the traditional and obvious pictures of you walking down the aisle, your first kiss as man and wife, your groom's face as he sees you for the first time, you and your family, etc. etc!
Those are not the pictures I'm talking about today.
Today I have here for you, 14 pictures from my own wedding, that I loved so much, I wanted to make sure everyone else had the chance to see them, and if they liked them, put them on their "wedding must-have photos" list! When I was getting ready for my own wedding, I went through Bridal magazines, and websites, looking at hundreds of pictures, trying to figure out what shots I wanted for my big day, so I thought this could be a much more condensed list for you to go through! So go through these pictures, see what you think, and add them to your list if you like them!

Our Wedding Reception Part 1!

11/16/2015

China Barbie's Wedding Reception Alt T
I'm back again, with more wedding pictures!
Hooray!

Our wedding reception was just wonderfully, and completely perfect!

We had our reception at the Oaks Club, which is a little rental hall.
This is one big way to save money on your wedding; have the reception at a rental hall, not a wedding rental hall! The reason for this, is that by adding the word wedding, it automatically makes everything so much more expensive! All the wedding rental halls we looked at, made you use their caterer and bar services for an outrageous price! The rental hall we used, cost only $450 to rent, and they let us bring in our own food, alcohol, and decorations! The result was a much cheaper wedding reception, and a reception that looked exactly how I wanted it to look, not how thousands of other bride's receptions looked!
I do have to brag a little bit here, because Nick was absolutely amazing when it came time to get the hall decorated! He (along with our wedding party) did everything possible to make it look exactly how I dreamed my wedding would look!

The decorations!
Our reception was lots of lace, pearls, and vinyl, with some superhero thrown in!
It was exactly what I wanted! Take a look!

The Food!
We had Chinese food for our reception! It was so fantastic! Everybody loved it, I'm still having people come up to me and tell me, that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding!
We had General Tso's, sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, white rice, fried rice, eggrolls, crab rangoons, and vegetable chicken! Yum!

The Cake!
I am absolutely smitten with our cake!
I have dreamed of this cake since I was a little girl, and it was everything I dreamed of!
It was a five tiered cake stand (that me and Nick made), stacked with Krispy Kreme Donuts!!! It had lace, pearls, and black and white fake roses intertwined with the donuts. I wanted it to look like a super fancy wedding cake, except it's not fancy at all, cuz it's donuts!
The top tier was a delicious vanilla cake that we cut and smashed into each other's faces.
The cake toppers were a Spiderman action figure holding a Batgirl action figure!
So perfect!!!
Take a look!

Hello ghouls and ghoul-etts!
The Halloween Season is upon us!
Cult Classic Horror Films, the Monster Mash, Blood, and Haunted Houses are here! I am so excited!!! Is your house ready? Well, here I have for you my 7 tips for making your house Halloween ready! Yaaaay!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Before you do anything, first you must turn on Pandora, and turn it to "Halloween Party" Radio! This is the greatest collection of Halloween, and creepy music! Coin Operated Boy, Thriller, Nightmare Before Christmas, even Witchy Woman by the Eagles, and I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow, how cool! And of course, Little Shop of Horrors!
So turn on the music, get in the Halloween Spirit, and start decorating!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Candy Dishes.
During Halloween you absolutely must have at least one candy dish sitting around!
For something very different and cool looking, I use record bowls!
Check out how groovy they look!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Get your House Halloween Ready!
I actually make these awesome record bowls, and you can buy them on my Etsy Shop, only $13.99 for a set of five!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Fake spiders and skulls!
Fake spiders and skulls are great, inexpensive ways to add a little spooky-ness to your house!
I bought this skull (the eyes light up and change colors!) at Dollar General a couple years ago after Halloween was over, for only $5.00, and my husband bought a pack of fake spiders this year at Dollar Tree for only a dollar!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Zombie Sheets!
This is one of my favorite way to decorate for Halloween, because they are so versatile! You can put them on your bed, on your couch, or even on a chair! Take a look!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
We used the sheet and two pillowcase set and arranged them on a chair, to get this chair to be the focal point of our living room!

Holographic Halloween Photos!
I don't care if these things are cheesy, I love them!
We have three of these in our house! We bought two of them at Dollar Tree for a dollar each, and I bought the other one at a flea market.
Etsy is also great place to find creepy paintings and prints!

How to make a creepy standing figure.
I love this little guy! He's super creepy, and super cool!

-Get a tall lamp stand, and take the light bulb and shade off of it.
-Get a long dress or nightgown (I had this when I worked at the Factory of Terror. I got it at Goodwill for a couple bucks after Halloween was over a couple years ago).
-Leave the dress on the hanger, and hang it over the lamp stand.
-Get any mask that you have laying around (believe it or not, we already had this mask!), and place it over the top of the lamp stand, so that it covers the hanger.

And there is your super cool and super creepy standing figure!

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Take a look around your house for things you can re-purpose and make into Halloween Decorations.
Me and my husband are both very kooky people, so we used a lot of items that we just happened to have laying around; they weren't even originally for Halloween decorations!
So take a look at some of the things we found and used for our decorations, and see if you have anything similar laying around that you can use, or think of your own original and crazy ideas!

-Mannequin Heads
I own two mannequin heads. Don't ask me why, but I love them! I use them when I'm vending at a festival to show off my headbands, and I just leave them around the house 'cuz I think they look cool!
You can find mannequin heads at beauty supply stores, or get one from someone who attended cosmetology school.

-Old Suitcases
I got mine at a thrift store, and my sister bought me one from a vintage store. They were already out in my living room, so I just put a mannequin head, a fake hand, and some fake cobwebs on it to make it look creepy and old.

-Fake Cobwebs
There is no easier way to Halloween-ify a room than with fake spiderwebs! We bought a pack at Dollar Tree for only one dollar! And that one pack went far! Just pull it apart, and put it everywhere!

-Old dried roses
I dry all the flowers that my husband gets me, and they look great put into a vase and set out with all your Halloween stuff.

-Black Roses
We used fake black roses for our wedding, so we just dug out those!

-Old Pictures

-Posters from haunted houses, bands, and concerts.
I have posters from when I worked at a haunted house, and my Misfits poster that I mounted on an old frame.

Get your House Halloween Ready!
Now get to thinking of your own terrifying creations!
Have a blast!

The Wedding Ceremony!

China Barbie's Wedding
Last week I shared with you pictures of everyone getting ready the day of the wedding.
Today I am going to share with you pictures from me and Nick's wedding ceremony!

China Barbie's Wedding
We were married at the historic Lion's Lincoln Theatre, on Lincolnway in Massillon, Ohio.
The Lincoln Theatre opened its doors in 1915; we were married in a 100 year old piece of history!
This place is so breathtakingly beautiful, we didn't even have to decorate it!
We walked down the theatre's aisle, and were married on the stage!
The outdoor marquee boasted our names and wedding date, saying "Now starring Mr and Mrs LaPinta! Release Date: June 6, 2015". It was super neat to see our names in lights!

Before the ceremony, a slideshow of pictures of us played on the giant movie screen!
It was very cool!

Here comes the bride!
I walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender". We were standing on the staircase waiting, and when I heard that song start, I knew it was time. It was such an exciting and emotional feeling!

My Daddy walked me down the aisle. This was one of the most special moments of the day for me. And I know for him too.

Nick's face when I was walking down the aisle.
One of my aunts told my mom that she's been to a lot of weddings, and she has never seen a groom looking any happier than Nick did! She said he had a look of such love, and joy, she's never seen anything like it!

Picture
China Barbie's Wedding
As my Dad was giving me away, he said to Nick, "Take good care of her."
You can actually see him saying this to Nick in this picture!
It was absolutely wonderful.

During the ceremony, instead of doing the usual unity candle, or unity sand ceremony, we did a peanut butter and jelly unity sandwich ceremony!
We decided that we wanted to do something different, something that we had never seen at a wedding, to represent the uniting of our lives. So Nick came up with the idea of a unity sandwich!
During the ceremony, I spread peanut butter on a piece of bread while he put jelly on his slice. These represented our individual lives, and when we put the pieces together, represented the joining and uniting of our families, lives, and hearts. It was a very special ceremony, and everyone absolutely loved it!
Here are some pictures of the unity ceremony.

I had someone tell me that I looked like Christmas morning during the wedding ceremony, that I had such a huge smile on my face the entire time!
And I guess the following pictures of the rest of the ceremony prove that true!
I also kept giggling, I was just so happy and excited!

My Bachelorette Party!

China Barbie's Bachelorette Party
Ok everyone, today's post is super fun, because it's all about my Bachelorette Party!!!
We had a complete blast, and I'm SO thankful for all my girlies who made it such an unforgettable night! A special thank you to my wonderful Maid of Honor and little sister, who planned the entire night, bought all the phallic shaped accessories, and paid for the majority of the night!!!

China Barbie's Bachelorette Party
Our night started out at the beautiful Perennial Vineyards of Brewster, Ohio.

We ate fancy and delicious foods, drank wine (of course), I opened my naughty gifts, and we ate this great cake that my sister came up with, made by Katy's Kreations.

Our next activity of the night was belly dancing!!!
My sister thought of, and paid for this wonderful idea, and it was a blast!!!

Our lesson was given by the beautiful Mariah from Belly Dance by Mariah Studio in downtown Canton.
If you want a fun workout, that actually works (and is super sexy!), try belly dancing!

Next we walked around downtown Canton'sFirst Friday. The first Friday of the month (duh!), the art district comes alive in Canton! All the restaurants, art galleries, shops, and bars are open, artists tout their wares, musicians perform on the street, and you can just walk around and take it all in!
China Barbie's Bachelorette Party
We happened to randomly find this snapchat that a friend of a friend of one of the girls with us happened to receive, so she forwarded it on to us! Yes!!!

After it had gotten dark, and we had walked around for a while, we wandered into Buzzbin, the small bar that by the end of the night everyone tends to gravitate towards. It has lots of drinks, a pinball machine, records on the wall, and live music (I actually played here a couple years ago when my band was together)! We happened to snag the only corner booth in the place, and commenced with the drinking, giggling, and later in the night, dancing along to the bands!

China Barbie's Bachelorette Party
The final (and super groovy) band of the night; Injecting Strangers. These guys put on such a great show! We really enjoyed it!

I hope you enjoyed getting a little sneak peek into my Bachelorette Evening!
Thank you so much for joining me!!!

Oh!
And my wedding is in 6 days!!!!!!!

How to Host a Victorian Tea Party!

How to Host a Victorian Tea Party
A couple months ago me, my mom, sister, aunts, and cousins all had a Victorian Themed Tea Party! I wrote allllll about it here! Check it out, it's pretty adorable!
Anyways, we all had such a wonderful time, that I wanted to make a guide so you can have your very own Victorian themed tea party!

1. Make the Menu

How to Host a Victorian Tea Party
How to Host a Victorian Tea Party

Try to keep everything light and cute. Bonus points if it's mini!
Finger sandwiches are perfect, as is an adorable salad, and don't forget dessert!
I found this amazing website that is full of wonderful tea party recipes! Everything from sandwiches, to desserts, to jams!

2. Don't Forget the Tea!

How to Host a Tea Party
Victorian Tea Party Tea
It is a tea party after all!
There aren't too many rules with the tea!
You can have hot or cold.
Tea bags or leaves.
Honey or Sugar.
We had all of the above!!!

3. Set the Table

How to Host a Tea Party; Setting the Table
Because my family loves vintage and antique things, we had everything we needed to decorate for the tea party, already in our house!
Look around your own house and attic, and see what you can find!
You can also ask an older relative if you can borrow some of their antiques, or even go to your local thrift shop and find some treasures!
Look for things with lots of lace, pearls, and flowers! Look on the internet for inspiration!
But remember, decorating for your tea party is extremely important. How you decorate your tea party space, can immediately inform your guests what theme they are taking part in!

How to Make a Victorian Inspired Fan

4. Make your guests paper fans!

Ok, I know these are kind of elementary school and cheesy, but they are suuuper cheap and simple to make, and everyone at the party loved them! Plus! They make a great favor that your guests can take with them to remember their day!
How to Make a Victorian Fan

What You Need:

-Computer or construction paper (one for each guest).

-Glitter

-Feathers (I got a bag of yellow and white ones a JoAnn Fabrics for about $3.00)

-Hot glue gun

-Glue stick

-A stapler

How to Make a Victorian Fan
What to do:
-Fold each piece of paper accordian style.
-Put glue (from your glue stick, not the hot glue gun!) in the creases and folds of the fan.
-Sprinkle glitter over the fan.
-Let the glue dry, then shake the excess glitter off, back into the glitter container, or on top of another fan that has glue on it.
-Staple the bottom of the accordian paper together, so that it is now a fan!
and last
-Put some hot glue on the end of the fan, and attach the feathers to it!

#5. Make yourself an adorable hair piece!

How to Host a Tea Party; Hair
I made the hair piece that I wore to our tea party. It was extremely cheap and easy to make, and it looked absolutely fabulous!
You can actually purchase the actual hair piece that I'm wearing in the photograph above, from my shop.
