The Wedding Ceremony!

China Barbie's Wedding
Last week I shared with you pictures of everyone getting ready the day of the wedding.
Today I am going to share with you pictures from me and Nick's wedding ceremony!

China Barbie's Wedding
We were married at the historic Lion's Lincoln Theatre, on Lincolnway in Massillon, Ohio.
The Lincoln Theatre opened its doors in 1915; we were married in a 100 year old piece of history!
This place is so breathtakingly beautiful, we didn't even have to decorate it!
We walked down the theatre's aisle, and were married on the stage!
The outdoor marquee boasted our names and wedding date, saying "Now starring Mr and Mrs LaPinta! Release Date: June 6, 2015". It was super neat to see our names in lights!

Before the ceremony, a slideshow of pictures of us played on the giant movie screen!
It was very cool!

Here comes the bride!
I walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender". We were standing on the staircase waiting, and when I heard that song start, I knew it was time. It was such an exciting and emotional feeling!

My Daddy walked me down the aisle. This was one of the most special moments of the day for me. And I know for him too.

One of my aunts told my mom that she's been to a lot of weddings, and she has never seen a groom looking any happier than Nick did! She said he had a look of such love, and joy, she's never seen anything like it!

As my Dad was giving me away, he said to Nick, "Take good care of her."
You can actually see him saying this to Nick in this picture!
It was absolutely wonderful.

During the ceremony, instead of doing the usual unity candle, or unity sand ceremony, we did a peanut butter and jelly unity sandwich ceremony!
We decided that we wanted to do something different, something that we had never seen at a wedding, to represent the uniting of our lives. So Nick came up with the idea of a unity sandwich!
During the ceremony, I spread peanut butter on a piece of bread while he put jelly on his slice. These represented our individual lives, and when we put the pieces together, represented the joining and uniting of our families, lives, and hearts. It was a very special ceremony, and everyone absolutely loved it!
Here are some pictures of the unity ceremony.

I had someone tell me that I looked like Christmas morning during the wedding ceremony, that I had such a huge smile on my face the entire time!
And I guess the following pictures of the rest of the ceremony prove that true!
I also kept giggling, I was just so happy and excited!

China Barbie's Wedding
Well everyone, our wedding pictures are in!!!
I am just beside myself with excitement about these; when we first got them back I couldn't stop giggling I was just so happy!
Lisa Austin from Graham River Productions did a phenomenal job, I am so so happy with how they turned out!
I wanted you guys to be the first besides family to see them!
Since there are so many pictures (over 500!), I will be posting them in a couple different blog posts. This first set is pictures from earlier in the day.
Here they are!

China Barbie's Wedding
My dress!!!
I am absolutely obsessed with this dress.
I know a lot of people were very surprised at my choice of dress. I heard different people say that they were expecting something super crazy and out there. To tell the truth, I was too! But when I tried this dress on, I felt like a princess, and I loved it!!!
I figured that if there's any day to feel like a princess it's your wedding day!
So I went for it, and I'm so glad I did! I loved how poofy it was, and I had it hemmed in the front so it was a little shorter, and it looked just like a picture I found of a dress from the 50's. Below!  And since that was the theme, it worked out so perfectly.

Let's talk a little about this hair!
First of all, yes, that is my real hair!
I am absolutely obsessed with this hair! I will sometimes go through my pictures and just stop, and stare at this hair!!!
To get this fantastic poof (that stayed perfectly all day by the way!), Bri from Abby Warther Hair Studio, used four different pieces.
We had to keep building it and building it, because I wanted it so big! Three large hair donuts, and one long piece of fake hair wrapped in netting later, this beautiful creation was born!
I also made my own veil, since birdcage veils can cost well over $50.
Check out these crazy veils!

China Barbie's Wedding
I opted to do my own makeup after a bad experience with a professional makeup artist that made me look way too tan, and not like myself at all! Below! I am so glad that I did my own makeup, and made me look like myself. I not only stuck with my pale-ness, but I played it up, and I rocked it! It was exactly what I wanted to look like!

5 Modern Pop Hits that were actually stolen from Classic Music!

5 Modern Pop Hits that were Stolen from Classic Hits
I am, most definitely an old soul, and as such, am absolutely mesmerized by old music. Buddy Holly, The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Hank Williams, The Kinks, Cat Stevens, The Eagles, Aretha Franklin, the list goes on and on!
So, since I listen to and know good music, modern pop music just doesn't do anything for me! As opposed to old music that satisfies and nourishes my soul, newer music is just crude little tunes that are basically only chorus so that they get stuck in your head! There might be a couple newer songs here or there that I can tap my foot to and get a feel for, but it just isn't the same as those oldies but goodies.

So over the years, I have discovered 5 modern pop hits that originally, were beautiful, old-timey classics! Some of these I bet you would have never known! All these songs have been popular hits on the radio, and I'm guessing that most people don't know their roots!
So take a look, and see if you can guess who the original artist of these songs were!

#1. Let's start with Flo Rida's 'Good Feeling'. Did you know that the catchy, "Ooooh sometimes I get a good feeling yeah. I get a feeling that I never never never had before no no I get a good feeling yeah", was originally used in a song from 1962? I personally can not stand this Flo Rida song, it just crawls directly under my skin, but I absolutely adore the original singer, and the original song is so catchy and wonderful! Can you guess who the original 1962 crooner was?

The original singer, is one of my top female musician crushes, Etta James! The song is called "Something's Got a Hold on Me." Listen to it, and see how beautiful Etta's original song was!

#2. I actually really enjoyed Sean Kingston's 2007 self-titled album! I am a big fan of reggae, and I enjoyed his updated version of it!
The song, 'Me Love', when slowed down, has always struck a resemblance to one of my favorite songs from the 1970's, written by one of the greatest rock bands of all times...can you figure it out just by listening to it?

Could you figure it out? Now I may not be correct, and this has just been my personal opinion, but just listen to Led Zeppelin's 'D'yer Mak'er', and see what you think!

#3. Who could forget Sheryl Crow's 2003 cover, "The First Cut is the Deepest". It blew up on the radio, and it's because it was a complete rip-off of a beautiful old song!
It was also covered by Rod Stewart in 1977. The original artist was P. P. Arnold in May 1967. But my favorite artist did it in December of 1967.

Sound familiar? It's Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens! And here is the original, done by P.P Arnold!

#4. Did you think Kanye West was so clever for that catchy beat of his in "Gold Digger"? Well, he wasn't the original artist to use it! Yes, he did change the lyrics, making it, I guess a bit more relevant for today! But the original (and more upbeat, happy, cleaner, and just plain better!) version of this song was by.....

Ray Charles! So much better!

And coming in at #5. This song re-done by Paris Hilton, is simply put, awful. I absolutely love the original artist, and their version of the song! But Paris Hilton's throaty, way over the top trying to be sexy version is just a little too much to handle! And I didn't even get to the music video yet! I couldn't get past 57 seconds watching it! I just can't handle women parading around half naked trying desperately to convince everyone within a thousand miles radius of their sex appeal. That, to me, is about as un-sexy as you can get!
Ok I'm off my soapbox!

The original artist who sang "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" was Rod Stewart! I absolutely adore Rod and his wonderfully distinctive voice (and you have to admit he sure knows how to pull off a blonde mullet!)!
Rod's music video for "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" is so fun and spirited! I also love that it's a guy asking a girl "So honey do you think I'm sexy?"  as opposed to a slutty girl asking that same question full of provocation and seduction.
5 Modern Pop Hits that were Stolen from Classic Music
So next time you hear one of those songs, I hope you'll remember this post, and all the original artists who did them! You will know why they sound so good, because they were originally written or performed by a timeless artist who had actual talent, and wasn't in it for the sex appeal, fame, or money!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I hope it will inspire you to broaden your music horizons, and take a deeper look into the music that has changed this world!

Feel free to share it around! Pin it, tweet it, share it to facebook! Thanks guys!
