Day Trip to Coshocton Ohio with the Puppies

Day Trip to Coshocton Ohio with the Puppies
Coshocton Ohio, is a more than 200-year-old community, nestled in the rolling hills of East Central Ohio where the Tuscarawas and Walhonding Rivers meet to form the Muskingum. It is home of the historic canal era town Roscoe Village, and has a unique and colorful downtown with a wonderful small-town feel.
It is located only two hours from Cleveland, an hour and a half from Columbus, and an hour from the Wooster/Orrville area. Making it a perfect day trip for fellow Ohians!

Day Trip to Coshocton Ohio with the Puppies
Since graduating from school in July, I have been trying to go out and enjoy as much of summer as I can before it is gone.
One of the things I really wanted to do after graduating was go on a day trip with the puppies, and Coshocton seemed like the perfect place!
So follow along for my perfect Coshocton itinerary for a day trip with (or without) puppies!

Day Trip to Coshocton Ohio with the Puppies
Our first stop was downtown Coshocton.
In Google maps all you need to put in is Coshocton Ohio, and it will take you to downtown.
I don't know about you, but my first question when going somewhere, is the parking situation. Because if the parking is too stressful, I'm simply not going! Well never fear, in downtown Coshocton, the parking is ample and simple-no parallel parking here!
As soon as I got into downtown, I parked on the side of the road, just pulled right into one of the many headfirst parking spots lining the street.
And from there, I could walk the entirety of the small downtown area!

The first place we went to was Hannah Marie's Bakery and Coffee Shop, because I needed some coffee!
I tied the dogs up at the outdoor seating area while I went inside. Don't worry, you can watch them out the window while you are ordering your coffee and sweets!
The selection of freshly made cupcakes and pastries were heavenly! I got the black raspberry peach cobbler cupcake!

After I had my coffee and cupcake we walked to the Coshocton County Courthouse, it is a commanding presence in downtown Coshocton, you won't miss it!
It is beautifully landscaped, with benches dotting the area, and a giant gazebo!
This is a perfect area to sit and relax, and enjoy time with a loved one, or just a good book!

Downtown Coshocton has lots of great shops and restaurants. I didn't go into any, since I had the puppies. But even just walking around this quaint town is nice!

Only minutes down the road is Historic Roscoe Village.
It is a small port built along the Ohio and Erie canal.
You can walk around popping into the various adorable shops, restaurants, and even an old blacksmith shop, and you can also purchase tickets to enter certain areas and go on guided tours.

Immediately after entering the village, there was a couple parking lots. We parked, then walked from one end of the village to the other and back.

A red brick sidewalk stretches along both sides of the road, and the puppies loved trotting along on it.

One of the stores we went into was Good Boy Bakery.
This place was incredible!
Upon entering, the babies were doted on, given treats, and even had their pictures taken!

They had walls of bulk treats you can buy by the pound, clothes, shampoos, and anything else you can think of to buy for your fur baby! And come on, look how adorable these house made treats are! The babies loved them!

Follow the trail out of town to the visitor center, and you will find this tunnel.

You can then take a quick drive or walk less than a mile to take a horse drawn canal boat ride.
This is such an amazing experience! We didn't get to do it this trip, because they are only open on weekends (check their website for times), but was told that it is dog friendly!

We ate in the outdoor seating area of Huck's Tavern. The menu mainly consisted of hot dogs and pizza, so I only ordered the pretzels appetizer. The pretzels were good, but I was not too impressed with their selection.

One minute drive down the road from Roscoe Village is Clary Gardens.

Since I forgot to pack socks to go along with my hiking shoes (and we were pretty tired at that point too), we didn't do a long hike.
But we found a peaceful reflecting pond to sit by, and it was a great relaxing end to our day. We also saw a doe and her fawn! <3

P.S. Downtown also has a Tim Hortons (Check out my Instagram highlights to see pictures of my Dad photo bombing all my Tim Horton pictures haha)!

Staying in a Yurt in Torch Lake, Michigan

Staying in a yurt in Torch Lake, Michigan
Staying in a yurt is a definite bucket list experience!
I know I absolutely loved the experience of camping, while simultaneously sleeping on a Queen sized bed!

September 2021 in one weekend, Chase and I had our one year anniversary of when we re-met, and our six month dating anniversary, so we wanted a little romantic escape!
We didn't want to go too far, or spend too much money (I was in the process of buying my house!), so staying in a yurt in Michigan was the perfect choice!

Staying in a yurt in Torch Lake, Michigan
Our yurt was located on Rocky Top Farms, a super adorable and funky (you know how much I love funky things!) little farm that grows cherries, creates preserves from said cherries (which you receive a complimentary jar of with your stay!), has nearly 300 acres of hiking and biking trails, and is totally off the grid!

It is located only 2.5 miles from Lake Michigan and Torch Lake beaches!
Now, if you've never been to Torch Lake beaches, it is something special! We went in September, and it was rainy and chilly the majority of our stay, so we did not get to swim in the lake, but we did experience the beach, and it was just so cool to see a legit beach in Michigan! Definitely not what popped into my head when I thought of Michigan!

To make our campsite even more incredible, it was waterfront! Yes, we could look out the door (flap?) of our yurt, or across our firepit at a gorgeous lake view!

And it included a paddleboat which we of course used!
How romantic!

We both like to camp, and this was just an elevated, incredible camping experience!
It was also our first time away alone together, so we really enjoyed time spent together at this magical place.
Want to stay in the exact tent we stayed in?
Or visit Rocky Top Farms to see all that they have to offer.
