In North America, if you want to take a peek into the past, you would most likely visit places such as Williamsburg, Charleston, or New Orleans. As fun as those places might be, none of them are more than several hundred years old. Beijing on the other hand, is a city that has a history dating back over 3,000 years!
When I was living in Xi'an, China, I was fortunate enough to go to Beijing for my 22nd birthday! It was incredible! So let me take you on a journey, to some of the best places to visit, and sights to see when you're in Beijing (because you ARE going to Beijing at some point in your life right?!!)
The #1 place you need to visit in Beijing is a no-brainer; the Great Wall!
All historical facts, and cultural significance aside, this was one of the most breathtaking places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting! It is just so surreal, and magical! It is a must!
The second place I would recommend for you to visit, is the Forbidden City.
It is the best-preserved imperial palace in China, and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world! It is located right in the center of Beijing.
Here are some pictures I took there!
Take some touristy pictures!
You can find scenes like this set up at touristy locations. We took these at the Forbidden City.
Drink Some Tea!
When you're in China you must try this part of their culture!
Take a Ride on the Subway!
Peace Love and Beijing
