Rescuing Animals in Need

Rescuing Animals in Need
A couple weeks ago, we got a new addition to our family. A 3 year old boxer dog, that we named Rocky (after the song Rocky Raccoon. We have another boxer named Sadie, after Sexy Sadie [my family is huuuge Beatles fans haha]).
We hadn't originally planned on rescuing a dog, but my mom was given him for free. The man who owned him had had him since he was  a puppy, and his entire life was spent inside a tiny cage. When he didn't want him anymore, he gave him to his mom, and since then, Rocky had no human contact, except for when they threw him food (his cage couldnt even open. When we went to get him, they had to dig out the ground around it to open the cage). He didn't even have a name.
When we brought him home, the first thing we had to do was give him a bath. He was sooo dirty, and I had NEVER seen so many fleas! The first week at home, he was very skiddish, and scared of everything. After being around us for a couple weeks, he is getting accustomed to his new home, and his new family. He gives us kisses, and gets along with Sadie. It is still very slow going (it takes abused and neglected dogs a while before they can trust people and not be afraid), but he is doing wonderful, and we love him so much, and he is such a great addition to our family.

Rescuing Animals
So I would like to encourage you, the next time you are looking for a new pet, rescue one! Go to the pound and adopt, or just look for an animal that is in need. It is so worth it, to know that you gave a living creature a second chance at life, and I guarantee, that animal will give you a true friend, that will always be by your side.

Peace Love and Puppies

    I'm Jessica!

I've traveled all over the world, but Ohio is where I call home. I'm a lifestyle & travel blogger, and author. I love setting goals, reading, and snuggling up with my fur babies. I can usually be found at my local thrift store, or in the hammock in my backyard.
