Working at a Chinese Orphanage

On my last trip to China, I had the great privilege of volunteering at an orphanage!
I fell in love with this little guy, and hung out
and played with him the whole time (he was digging through my purse and found my sunglasses and put them on! How ADORABLE is he?!!).
His legs were paralyzed, but he was really
smart and so cute and sweet! When I
told him that I was leaving (in Chinese), he turned to me and threw his arms around my neck and gave me this really sad look. My heart broke!
But I had an amazing time, and it completely filled my heart with even more love and joy! When you reach out to others with love, you will have even more love returned to you!

These pictures are from the first time I worked at a Chinese orphanage, back in 2008. It was when I came more to terms with my desire to adopt a baby from a Chinese orphanage! It is soo sad seeing all these babies that have been cast aside, and I just realized how much I wanted to help them! Now it is a very prominent item on my "Things I Want to Do Before I Die" List.
